GENERAL INFORMATION:

Rhinestone Goop Adhesive PLAD-9030 is a plastisol two part system to which Goop Catalyst PLAD-9120 must be added before use.

The reason for a two part system is that if any heat (over 90F.) is applied to the system after it is catalyzed, there may be a premature cross linking of the system which will turn the mixture into a solid. Therefore, when mixing in Goop Catalyst PLA D-9120, it is recommended that it be stirred by hand and not mixed in with any mechanical mixing device. This will ensure that heat will be minimized.

DIRECTIONS:

RATIO: 2% Goop Catalyst PLAD-9120 is required to cross link the system.

Glitters, which are normally added to the adhesive for decorative purposes, should be well stirred in before adding catalyst. Add 8-10% (12-16 ounces) of glitter per gallon.

Add 4 ounces of Goop Catalyst PLAD-9120 to each gallon of Rhinestone Goop Adhesive PLAD-9030.

The catalyst should be added just before using or loading into dispensing machines.

When applying the adhesive, make sure that you put enough down so that when you press the rhinestone into the wet bead, the sides roll up and over the rhinestone and cover the edge. This will insure that the adhesive is securing the stone and not only the foil backing of the rhinestone which may de-laminate in washing. This technique will give you maximum washability.

CURING:

After applying the Goop Adhesive it must be cured for at least 2 minutes at 300F (149C). This will achieve maximum cross linking and adhesion. Immediately after the garment exits the oven the adhesive is still warm. It can be tested for adhesion after it cools; however, maximum holding power is attained after 24 hours. If at this time the adhesive is not rock hard, it has not been exposed to enough heat and it can be run through the oven again.

STORAGE:

Treat both as you would any normal plastisol ink. Do not expose to temperatures above 90F. However, once both components are mixed together they should be used within 24 hours and stored in a cool location where temperatures will not exceed 80F.

Keep all containers tightly closed to eliminate any premature hardening or contamination.

NOTE:

Since the catalyzed Goop Adhesive will cross link (with heat) into a solid mass, it is strongly recommended that all cartridges used in air pressure canister dispensing machines be thoroughly cleaned after use; mineral spirits should be satisfactory.

CAUTION:

Metallic powders should not be added to the Goop Adhesive as this process can lead to excessive thickening of the mixture. Always pretest before production.
